Plastic Surgery Meter: Hongbin, VIXX

Hongbin is the doe-eyed visual of VIXX, and though he’s always been exceptionally good looking, he seems to have taken it up a few notches since debuting. Hongbin’s nose has become straighter with a slightly smaller tip since he appeared in Mydol back in 2012. It’s not a huge change, but it has had the effect of making him look more doll-like.

I also think it’s highly likely he had double eyelid surgery somewhere along the line, and possibly some additional surgery to widen his eyes even more. His deep eyelid creases don’t look particularly natural.

Plastic Surgery Meter: Hyeri, Girl’s Day

Today we look at Korea’s new aegyo queen, Lee Hyeri of Girl’s Day. Two things about her face are almost immediately noticable: Her large, doe eyes and her small, upturned nose. So of course this points to the infamous double-whammy, the KPOP Combo.

Her double eyelid surgery is really very obvious. Back in 2010, the crease lines from surgery were clear and deep, suggesting she had the procedure around that time. This makes sense, considering Girl’s Day debuted in 2010.

Her nose job is also quite obvious. If you view it in the last two after pics, you can see that it is unnaturally pointed and upturned. I’m not sure if she’s had one nose job and uses fillers to make it pointy like that, but in any case, the verdict is that it is not her original nose.

Plastic Surgery Meter: Rap Monster, Bangtan Boys

Today we’re going off the request list to cover someone who has been bothering me for a while: Rap Monster of BTS. He has a pretty obvious nose job, and I always wanted to collect some pre-debut pics to prove it.

Below you can see that his nose used to have a wider and rounder tip, while his bridge was flatter and less even. He now sports a straight-bridged, pointy nose which can only be the result of surgery.

The rest of his face doesn’t look as if it’s changed. He still has mono eyelids which would suggest he hasn’t altered his eyes, because double eyelid surgery is usually the first thing people go for.

Plastic Surgery Meter: Chorong, Apink

I was on the fence about whether Park Chorong of Apink had gone under the knife until I saw this pre-debut video of her auditioning for JYP. Although she is young here, the difference in her nose and eyes is apparent. Her eyes are definitely larger now than they were back then, although it seems to me that she’s always had some kind of natural double eyelid. Her nose is also more refined, suggesting she had a little bit of work done there as well.

I read a rumor that she had her jaw shaved but I think this is unfounded.

All in all, the work she had seems to have been minor and very well done. The veneers she has on her teeth are almost more obvious than her plastic surgery.

Plastic Surgery Meter: Kai, EXO

For some reason I thought we’d covered all of EXO already, but it turns out we haven’t (although their numbers are ever decreasing at the moment). So today we look at EXO-K’s main dancer Kai.

First things first: His double eyelid surgery. Yes, he’s had it. He has very deep creases which, in itself, does not prove that he’s had the procedure, but when you can still see those obvious creases when he’s got his eyes closed then it’s a dead giveaway. As you may know, in double eyelid surgery they stitch along the upper eyelid resulting in a permanent crease line.

He’s also had a nose job. This seems to be a more recent thing because I’m pretty sure back in EXO’s debut days, Kai still had quite a flat, wide nose tip. Now the tip of his nose looks different, less rounded.

So it’s the KPOP Combo for Kai, which is not all that surprising coming from SM, really.

Plastic Surgery Meter: CNU, B1A4

We were away for a little while, but now we’re back with CNU of B1A4! Just from browsing his pre-debut pics, it doesn’t look like very much has changed. His nose is the same and he still has quite small eyes, nothing that would suggest he’s undergone any double eyelid surgery. I think the roundness of his face might fluctuate depending on his weight, which sometimes makes him look a little different.

He also “fixed” his teeth, and I write that in quote marks because I think he looked better before. Yes, sometimes cute bunny teeth lend your face more character than a perfectly straight set of veneers! Oh well. At least as far as plastic surgery goes, CNU seems to be a clean slate.

Plastic Surgery Meter: Jackson, GOT7

Happy 2015, everyone! We’re starting the year with someone not on our request list (sorry!), Jackson Wang of GOT7.

Jackson is a beautiful guy (as pretty much all men of KPOP are), and luckily for us, he has quite a few pre-debut pictures floating around on the Internet. The first thing I noticed about his pre-debut pics was his relatively wide nose in comparison to other, newer pics I had open. Turns out that it was just because he was smiling in the pre-debut pics while giving more of a serious face in the others.

I don’t believe Jackson has had any plastic surgery. He does wear a lot of make up and I’m quite sure he does some neat contouring tricks on his nose, but when he busts out his wide grin he looks the same as he did in his school photos. His eyes also look the same. I guess he just wears a lot more make up now!

Plastic Surgery Meter: Suwoong, Boys Republic

Suwoong of Boys Republic has been accused of plastic surgery numerous times before and always denies it. Unfortunately for him, the proof is in the pictures, which is how we can tell that he has at least had double eyelid surgery.

If you’ve read our write-up on double eyelid surgery, you’ll know that the crease is created with stitches. This results in a permanent line on the upper eyelid that doesn’t go away when you close your eyes. Not a huge problem as such, but it is for idols who do a lot of winking, ha!

Comparing Suwoong’s before and after pics shows that generally, not much has changed. He’s always given me a bit of an “uncanny valley” vibe, but I think this is from the extreme aegyo sal he has going on sometimes. I’m not sure if his aegyo sal is the result of make-up or fillers but it definitely fluctuates which makes me think it’s not purely natural. I don’t think he’s done anything to his nose because he always had a nice, straight nose and there are no obvious changes there.

We’re back to our request list today with Suga of BTS. Actually, digging through his pre-debut stuff has been loads of fun, Min Yoongi was a super cute kid! And judging by the pics we found, it doesn’t look like he’s had any plastic surgery at all.

At first, his nose raised a bit of suspicion, but this was mainly in promo pics and we all know that these cannot be trusted. Seriously, so much photoshopping goes on in the official pics it’s amazing that idols are recognizable at all. Having said that, a lot of the fansites photoshop their pictures as well. Everyone’s in on keeping up the facade of perfection, it’s ridiculous.

If you check out recent pics of Suga, you can see that there are no signs of eyelid surgery and his nose is still quite wide when he smiles, suggesting that he hasn’t had a nose job either. We also found this cute pre-debut video of Suga auditioning for Big Hit. He looks pretty natural to us! What do you think?

Plastic Surgery Meter: Sungjae, BTOB

I’ve been looking forward to this one. Actually, I thought it would be easy to declare Sungjae of BTOB a natural beauty, but then the pictures told another story!

Sungjae doesn’t look remarkably different from his pre-debut years. Of course he looks like an idol now, because that’s the effect of having stylists and make up artists follow you around on a daily basis. Other than that, he looks much the same.

The only aspect of his face that I think has changed is his eyes. He used to have very narrow eyes and is now a lot more wide-eyed. It doesn’t look like he’s had double eyelid surgery though, because he still has monolids. It’s likely that he’s had the inner (and?) outer corners of his eyes cut to give him a more open-eyed look. I think this may have occurred in 2013.

Plastic Surgery Meter: Joy, Red Velvet

Today we cover  Red Velvet maknae, Joy! Before researching this post, I was in two minds about whether or not Joy may have had plastic surgery. On the one hand, she’s extremely young (1996 liner!), but she’s also part of SM, a company notorious for putting their idols under the knife.

Indeed it seems that Joy has had the obligatory KPOP Combo, which is double eyelid surgery and a nose job. I’m more convinced of the rhinoplasty than the eye work though, because you can see the evidence of the narrowed bridge and nose tip. Her eyes have also been opened up but it’s difficult to tell if this is the result of surgery or just good make up and perhaps eyelid tape? I must admit, the fact that she’s with SM makes me lean towards the former…

Plastic Surgery Meter: Shindong, Super Junior

We’ve covered almost all of Super Junior already, and it turns out quite a few of them have had plastic surgery. Today we look at SuJu’s Shindong, who is also famous as an MC.

Shindong has been brave enough to admit undergoing double eyelid surgery. To be honest, it hasn’t drastically changed his appearance. I don’t know if this means it was good surgery or that he wasted his money, lol. It was more noticeable in 2011 when he’d just had it done, but now it looks pretty natural.

I don’t think Shindong has had any other plastic surgery. Rhinoplasty and double eyelid surgery are the two most common cosmetic surgeries in South Korea, but his is nose looks exactly the same. The rest of his face has not changed a lot. I also think he’d admit to any other procedures since he showed no shame admitting the eyelid surgery in the first place. If only more idols felt comfortable doing the same!

Plastic Surgery Meter: Jimin, Bangtan Boys

I think BTS’s Jin was next up on our request list but instead we’ve gone straight to Jimin! Sorry. At least it’s BTS? Anyway…

Jimin’s face doesn’t seem too suspicious at first glance, but comparing his recent pics to pre-debut Jimin indicates that he may have had a nose job. The difference is not too glaring (unlike another member of BTS), but his nose does seem more petite.

I also suspect he may have had some work done on his eyes. He’s skipped double eyelid surgery, but his very wide-eyed look hints at possible corner cutting surgery, especially on the inner corners of his eyes.

Jimin is a really young guy so I hope he quits while he’s ahead, if you can even call it “ahead”. What do you guys think of the work he’s had done?

Plastic Surgery Meter: Narae, SPICA

Narae of SPICA has been on our request list for the longest time (since before we changed the site layout!), and for some reason we never got around to covering her. To the person that requested Narae, we apologize. Today is finally the day.

At first glance, the most obvious difference you can see in her face is her nose. It’s much sleeker and pointier than it was pre-debut. It’s safe to say she’s had rhinoplasty, but at least it’s not quite as glaring as some of the other nose jobs in SPICA. The same goes for her eyes. It looks as though she’s had some work done to widen her eyes, likely double eyelid surgery, but she seems to have gotten off lightly compared to some other members (who we will also cover, eventually).

Plastic Surgery Meter: Luhan, EXO

[Updated: February 10, 2015] Although Luhan isn’t part of EXO anymore, people still come to this post to tell us how wrong we are about his plastic surgery. We found a great recent pic of him that shows his profile and can be easily compared to a pre-debut pic.

We flipped the pre-debut pic to make the comparison photo, which is why his ear looks a little different, but this picture clearly shows a change in the shape of his nose as well as his chin and jaw. We also have further comparison pics available on our Facebook page. So please just accept that Luhan, Prince of China (or whatever he’s called these days), has had plastic surgery. This does not make him a better or worse human being than if he were all natural, so let’s not throw any insults, please!

[December 16, 2013] Luhan from EXO-M is known as the cutie of the bunch, but he’s far from a natural stunner. He has definitely had a nose job and some reshaping done on his jawline. He may have a chin implant, as his chin has become much pointier. All of the older photos of him show him with double eyelids, so it’s difficult to say whether or not any eye work was done.

Plastic Surgery Meter: D.O., EXO

Exo’s D.O., more commonly known by his real name Kyungsoo, is a great contender for natural beauty. He’s always looked “untouched” to me so I thought this would be a simple post to write. But digging up someone’s pre-debut pics always casts a new light on that person.

I’m quite certain Kyungsoo has had a nose job. If you look at his early pics, he had a large, rounded nose tip, which is now slightly smaller. This is not extensive plastic surgery by any stretch of the imagination, I’d probably call it a tweak. Hardly anyone gets away unscathed in SM though.

I’ve also read some rumors that Kyungsoo has had double eyelid surgery, but I don’t believe this is true. In pics of him closing his eyes, there’s no obvious scar line along the lid. He does have wide eyes but this isn’t a new thing. If anything, this would be the result of corner cutting surgery and not double eyelid surgery.

Plastic Surgery Meter: Kyungil, HISTORY

Kyungil is the leader of HISTORY, and with his good looks and muscular physique, he sure does attract the most attention in the group. You may also know him as part of GD‘s close circle of friends.

It was a little bit hard to research this post since HISTORY aren’t that popular and there aren’t too many pre-debut pics of Kyungil floating around. In many of them, he’s wearing sunglasses or even covering his nose. So I guess it’s no surprise to find out that he’s had a nose job, and he’s not the only member of HISTORY either.

You can see from the pre-debut pics of Kyungil that his nose definitely used to be wider. You can also see it here in this pre-debut video he appears in with GD. Kyungil is the one sitting next to TOP.

I think he may also have done a little eye work but it is very difficult to tell with the amount of pre-debut stuff available for comparison.

Plastic Surgery Meter: Hyosung, Secret

There have been a few recent rumors about Hyosung of Secret having plastic surgery, and today we’re going to figure out if those suspicions are correct.

This post was relatively easy to prepare thanks to an abundance of Hyosung selcas and a winking pic. Seriously, winking pics can be very incriminating when it comes to double eyelid surgery, so it surprises me that it’s such a KPOP mainstay.

What’s quite obvious from just looking at a few pictures is that Hyosung has had the full KPOP Combo (eyes and nose). Her nose, especially the tip, is slimmer than it was in her pre-debut days. Her eyes are also wider, hinting at double eyelid surgery or some other type of eye work. The dead giveaway for double eyelid surgery is the winking photo below, which clearly shows the stitch line on the upper eyelid.

Plastic Surgery Meter: Yuri, Girls’ Generation (SNSD)

As with all members of SNSD (and let’s face it, most idols in SM), Yuri did not escape the plastic surgeon’s knife. To be fair, her work seems to be a bit more subtle than some of the others in the group.

To start with, it is quite certain that Yuri had double eyelid surgery. Her eyes are a lot wider now than they were in the past. The scars from the surgery have healed up very well though, to the point where they are barely noticeable, especially when she wears make up. In this video, you can barely see the scarring at all until the very end where she smiles and the lines appear (these look like stitch lines rather than regular eyelid folds).

I suspect she may also have had a slight nose job, although if this is true, the surgeon did a really good job because it’s not obvious at all. I’m on the fence about this one, it might be that her nose is actually natural. This would be extremely rare in a group like SNSD!
